Ohio’s benefits agency that answers to Ohio — and no one else.
While Ohio’s independent agencies get bought and sold, OCIA was built differently: created and 100% owned by the Ohio Chamber of Commerce, serving employers across all 88 counties with full-market employee benefits consulting.
Where should you start?
Most of our clients don’t have an HR department. Pick the path that sounds like you.
I have under 50 employees
Group medical built for small employers — including large-group buying power through the Ohio Chamber Health Benefit Program.
See your options →I have 50–500 employees
Funding strategy, renewals, and ancillary lines managed by a dedicated account team that knows your business.
See your options →I’m not sure where to start
That’s normal. A 30-minute consultation and a no-obligation benefits program audit will tell you exactly where you stand.
Talk to a person →Why the Chamber built its own agency
Since healthcare reform, many of Ohio’s local, independent insurance agencies have been acquired by large national brokerages. Employers — especially small ones — got caught between national revenue targets and shrinking service models.
The Ohio Chamber of Commerce answered by creating an agency of its own: locally run, statewide in reach, and structurally impossible to sell. Our revenue doesn’t leave for outside shareholders — it goes back into advocating for Ohio business.
That’s not a slogan. It’s the ownership structure.
The problem
Agency roll-ups, retiring agents selling their books, call-center service models.
The answer
A benefits agency owned 100% by the state chamber — created to serve, not to be sold.
The result
A named six-person team in Columbus handling the full market for Ohio employers of 1–500 employees.
You’ll know everyone who works on your account
No departments. No queues. Six people, direct lines, and a promise: a real answer within two business days.
